Fun-filled Friday!

June 30, 2014

Today at JMB camp we focused on seat turtles, from rescue to release.

The day started with a lecture about the way sea turtles are treated when they come into the hospital.

Then,  campers either stayed at the center to take part in several activities, while the other kids played turtle games on the beach.

Campers in the center enjoyed making turtle crafts, including pet rock turtles, origami turtles, and a hammock hike on the nearby park trail.

After lunch, the kids got to tour the turtle hospital and re-visit their favorite turtles in the turtle yard. The campers had many questions for the hospital staff, and we very curious about the many tools used by the center’s hospital.

We wrapped up the day with some crafts, including pony bead turtle key chains and Gotaku (fish print) T-shirts and tote bags.

We had an amazing time with our campers this week! We’re glad that they learned lots about Florida’s  sea turtles, and had a fantastic time at JMB summer camp.
